Significant Life / Work Experience: Mario, with his wife Mariafranca Carpaneda Morselli and daughters Olga and Giovanna, immigrated to the United States in 1956 to run the American office of a large, Italian, pharmaceutical firm. The family moved from Hartsdale, New York, to South Burlington, Vermont, in 1964 when Mariafranca was hired by the University of Vermont to work in the Maple Research Center in the Department of Botany (now Plant Biology).
